The Passing of Hanna Kebbede

It is with a heavy heart that we share with you news of the passing of Hanna Mariam Kebbede, founder of both the Foundation in 2008 and later the Music Publisher.

It was in 1996 that Emahoy called on her “beloved niece” for help, and it is thanks to Hanna’s passion and loyalty to her aunt that the world has heard the music of Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru.

Hanna, along with Daniel Assefa, President of the Foundation Board, continued Emahoy’s legacy of using money made from her music to help those less fortunate. Hanna herself was also a talented visual artist.

As we continue to carry Emahoy’s legacy into the future, we will be carrying Hanna’s spirit with us as well.
